Silicon Image 311x sata controllers and some Seagate disks

Hardware That Doesn't Work with Linux

There are problems with some Silicon Image 311x controllers and some Seagate disks. The following are models from the sata_sil.c blacklist table. The driver must turn off dma to make these disks function.

Note:Sil3112 raid 0 can be mounted using the following dmraid instructions http://www.linuxmanpages.com/man8/dmraid.8.php also see(old) http://linuxmafia.com/faq/Hardware/sata.html

ST320012AS, ST330013AS, ST340017AS, ST360015AS, ST380013AS, ST380023AS, ST3120023AS, ST3160023AS, ST3120026AS, ST3200822AS, ST340014ASL, ST360014ASL, ST380011ASL, ST3120022ASL, ST3160021ASL

Also I have found that ST380013AS also fails until dma is turned off. Patch to the driver was submitted.

also the Maxtor 4D060H3 is listed, but the workaround is to turn off udma6 in favor of udma5.

Several workarounds and patches are made available by the core developers. Please have a look at http://home-tj.org/m15w/
