Reason (no specs from manufacturer, really new hardware, etc): Partial functionality supported with proprietary and open-source drivers; manufacturer hasn’t enabled all functionality and has not provided specs.

Brokeness (1 to 10 with 10 meaning it works perfectly): 10 if to be used solely as an ethernet adapter; 1 if to be used for IPsec acceleration.

Notes: This card functions fine with Linux when used simply as an ethernet card. However, the big selling point of this card is that it provides onboard crypto – that is, hardware acceleration for IKE/IPsec – remarkable for a low-cost card. Sadly, only the Windows drivers for this card enable this functionality. Intel has not enabled it in their Linux drivers, and they have not made available the hardware specs so that others can write drivers that enable it.
