Manufacturer: Broadcom

Model number: 43XX

Chipset: 4301, 4306, 4307, 4309, 4311, 4312, 4319, 43XG

Reason: Bcm43xx open-source project is actively developing Linux drivers for this range of Wifi cards. The driver is currently merged into Torvald’s 2.6.20 GIT tree, and new developments are regularly merged into the same.

Firmware blobs can be extracted from the Windows drivers using a utility called “fwcutter”, which the driver can load into the card.

Not all chipsets are supported equally. The 4318 is still considered unsupported. 4311 is reportedly working, but varying amounts of success.
